| Normally I am not a rap fan as much of it is crass and full of nonesense and pointless messages. lately, though, i have come to find that, as in other types of music, there is some talent in the world of rot (sorry to those who actually like t-pain and Lil' Wayne). And, as this mellenium has rolled in, we have seen the breakthrough of many "rap" artists who use Auto Tune and voice synthesizers to the extream. Now, music is subjective for the most part but i argue that there has to be some line where it is objective, or judged with out personaly bias. and i think Auto Tune crosses the line. I will give you useing it for creative purposes, or for an original supplement. but the carreer of an artist should not be based upon this machine. without it, many would not have a carreer, and would that be so bad, considering the garbage coming from them? Thus, i found Jay-Z's D.O.A (death of Auto-Tune). The first time i lisitened to the lyrycs, they were amazing. there are some parts that definitly do not belong and make the song ungettable for me. but the message is heartening for me, coming from someone in the genre. of course, it is ironic becasue he has a part where he sings and it is slightly off key, making me wish he used said device. So, kudos, Jay-Z. Kudo. And the music video has Harvey Keitel. so thats that. |
